The Cold War was a rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union that lasted for much of the second half of the 20th century. The Cold war was waged on political, economic, and propaganda fronts and had only limited recourse to weapons. This war resulted in suspicions, heightened tensions, and a series of international incidents. These incidents brought our worlds superpowers into disaster. No single party was entirely to blame for the Cold war.

The Cuban missile crisis showed that neither the United States nor the Soviet Union were ready to use nuclear weapons for fear of the other's retaliation. Americans had always been worried about Soviet communism and concerned about Stalin's government power. After the war, the tensions increased and led to a lot of distrust between the superpowers.
Postwar Soviet expansion in Eastern Europe made many Americans fears of Russia's plan to control the world increase. Americans didn't want Stalin to spread communism. This led to a Red Scare in the nation. The Cold war tensions then relaxed when Stalin died in 1953.

  1. I agree with your points about the things and events that came from the Cold War. But I think the Cold War was safer for everyone because it was mostly empty threats and each country building relationships and making technological improvements through allies and the space race.

    1. I understand your standpoint completely, I saw it to be dangerous because of the tensions being built and the possibilities that could've broke out. Do you think the tensions between the cold war had larger impacts then the tensions of other wars?

  2. I loved all the pictures you added in your blog Grace. I also agree that the Cold War had extreme tension and fear was manifested into the hearts of American Citizens. I was wondering if you could elaborate a little bit more on the Cold War by giving more information on the events that occurred during it. (But seriously nice blog though!)

  3. I agree with where you said that the Cold War was waged on political, economic and propaganda fronts. Would you define the Cold War as as a war of Propaganda or would you just state that propaganda was a component?
